Tips on New Construction:

  1. Wait for Drying and Settling:

    • Before beginning any painting in new construction, ensure the building has had enough time to settle. This includes waiting for the drywall to fully dry, as well as ensuring that any construction work (plumbing, electrical, etc.) is completed so you don’t risk damaging freshly painted surfaces.

  2. Proper Surface Preparation:

    • New construction often has raw surfaces that require careful preparation. Make sure drywall is properly primed, nails and seams are filled, and any surface imperfections are smoothed out before applying paint. This ensures a clean, even coat and prevents issues like uneven finishes or peeling.

  3. Use High-Quality Primers:

    • Priming is crucial in new construction, especially with new drywall. A good primer seals porous surfaces, prevents stains, and ensures that the topcoat adheres properly. This also helps to create a more uniform finish.

  4. Choose the Right Paint for Durability:

    • For new construction, it’s important to use high-quality, durable paints that will last. For areas prone to wear, such as hallways or kitchens, consider using more durable finishes like satin or semi-gloss that are easier to clean and maintain.
